Lafayette Square

It is behind the White House, used to be called the President’s Park. Renamed to honor the Frenchman who fought in the American Revolutionary War: Marquis de Lafayette.

We had salads from Chop’t (on 7th Street NW, opposite from Zengo) at the Botanic Garden: excellent salad and over the moon location. I couldn’t restrain myself from going in. Each picture I snapped, I told myself will need time I don’t have.
The story of my life.

The Treasury

United States Department of the Treasury is next (east) to the White House. A few guys are playing roller hockey on a glorious day, behind the Treasury.

The White House gardens

Tour White House garden is also a surprise. It opens two days this weekend. The timed tickets are free, first come first serve.

Don’t know the pictures are normally there but they look like an eyesore. The weather is unbelievably good.

The Watergate

We walked over from the Kennedy Center. This place, looks unimpressive but endured a lot of important history. Starting from President Richard Nixon, if not earlier.

AirBnB in Arlington

Our first experience with Airbnb, during the parents weekend in DC: Great host and a cute cat. The house sits on a dead end street to Glencarlyn Park. Columbia Pike has plenty apartments and convenient to stores. The room and the bed are welcoming and comfortable. Host pays attention to small details, such as hair conditioner and bottle opener, etc. I especially like her spoons and mugs – ha ha ha I’m anal and petty. Good water pressure makes shower enjoyable too.

Cocktail at Rock Creek Park

Rock Creek Park cocktail is a surprise: almost none traffic got us to DC in a record time. We decided to have a glass of wine in the park first. Very lucky the spot we parked even has a little sandy beach.  So I did a little yoga, can’t resist.

Meze

Mezè Restaurant
2437 18th Street, NW
Washington, DC 20009

We picked a wonderful evening to go and enjoyed it very much. This Turkish/Mediterranean restaurant sits on a busy street in Adam Morgan, a few doors away from Tryst coffeehouse. We’ve the gluten test & tasting menu. Their Bogazkere (is a dark skinned grape that ripens late, mostly from Turkey) wine is delicious.
