Bar-headed goose @ Whitney Pond park

image
On the north side of the Northern Blvd, it’s the home of many geese (斑头雁 ban tou yan,學名Anser indicus,又名白头雁、黑纹头雁). In recent years, it has been upgraded, the playing field is busy with multiple groups of kids, sometimes adults too. Three videos: They must forget to take birth control pillsare dating and the traffic in the background.

wiki states: The bar-headed goose (Anser indicus) is a goose that breeds in Central Asia in colonies of thousands near mountain lakes and winters in South Asia, as far south as peninsular India. It lays three to eight eggs at a time in a ground nest.

This Chinese restaurant on Northern Blvd. has been there for ages. I as dinners there a few times decades ago. They present themselves as fine dining but it’s only average. The food is ok and on the side more for the non Chinese. They’ve a small dining hall that has a few old looking objects, trying hard to be sophyisitcated. The ceiling is extremely low to the point feeling sufercating.

Quaker Meeting

1421 Northern Blvd,
Manhasset, NY 11030

The Meeting House, next to Manhasset Library, was founded by the Society of Friends in 1702. Used continuously as a place of worship except when occupied by British and Hessian forces during the American Revolution. In 1812 the original meeting house was demolished and rebuilt using the original benches and timbers. The oak tree is one of the oldest and largest on Long Island.

New York’s blue skies 纽约的蓝天

There is blue, in my dictionary, called New York blue – cerulean blue, for the clear sky.

Blue is the new black or what? During the spring auction, Christie’s in New York sold French artist Yves Klein’s (The Blue Epoch) 无题单色蓝 Untitled Blue Monochrone (IKB 108), 1956, to a Chinese bidder for US$3.3m on May 10th, 2016. And an auction house in Shanghai will put his letters 国际克莱因蓝 (baidu) under the grave this weekend, on June 19, 2016. p a

Walking the Brooklyn Bridge

I walked over this incredible bridge a few times during the off season, which were incredibly enjoyable. Today the crowds makes it far less inviting. But the views and vibrations are the same.
