West side used to be seedy. In one of the episodes of Mad Men, Peggy Olson (Elisabeth Moss) accidentally stabs her beau Abe in self defense in her apartment I think was UWS, where she often heard fights and unfriendly noises outside of her windows. Midtown was no better, ruin down; and with many strip clubs. Guess time has changed. UWS is cool and trendy. Now midtown west becomes hot too.
