{"id":52270,"date":"2018-07-27T09:28:33","date_gmt":"2018-07-27T16:28:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bonvoyage.ireneeng.com\/?p=52270"},"modified":"2020-01-28T10:22:16","modified_gmt":"2020-01-28T17:22:16","slug":"airbnb-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bonvoyage.ireneeng.com\/?p=52270","title":{"rendered":"AirBnB"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So far, the <em>experience<\/em> in New York has been good, in comparison to the logging we&#8217;ve had around the world &#8230; dealing with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bonvoyage.ireneeng.com\/?p=21055\">cancelations<\/a>, and terrible situation such as the one below.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bonvoyage.ireneeng.com\/?p=64108\">Sex and the City<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bonvoyage.ireneeng.com\/?p=64129\">Jazz @ Rock<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>A terrible host &#8230;<br \/>\n<span class=\"frame-outer  alignleft none size-thumbnail wp-image-52297\"><span><span><span><span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bonvoyage.ireneeng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/IMG_1931.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft none size-thumbnail wp-image-52297\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bonvoyage.ireneeng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/IMG_1931-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><br \/>\nBenefit Street<br \/>\nProvidence, RI<\/p>\n<p>This is an AirBnB home in Providence, Rhode Island.\u00a0The stay was a disaster from the beginning, at check-in. The messy floor greeted us as soon as we opened the house door, then the door to the apartment was deadlocked&#8230; we simply couldn&#8217;t open.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the pros and cons:<\/p>\n<p>Pros: convenient, has an a\/c (noisy tho)<\/p>\n<p>Cons:<\/p>\n<p>1. WRONG INFORMATION that resutling a parking ticket. The host site stated &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.IreneEng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/F8DF774B-91FE-4882-B07C-814139D72B0C.png\">it&#8217;s pretty easy finding free street parking just outside this house.<\/a>&#8221; And assured me repeatedly in our private communications &#8211; I&#8217;ve been to her area before, therefore I asked about parking. (Now her site doesn&#8217;t mention parking anymore &#8230;) \u00a0The street sign says <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bonvoyage.ireneeng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/IMG_1936.jpg\"><em><span style=\"color: #999999;\">3 hrs parking 8 am to 6 pm<\/span><\/em><\/a>. After the ticket, I dig a little, to find that the city has a rule -&gt; http:\/\/www.providenceri.gov\/public-works\/overnight-parking\/ \u00a0that overnight on-street parking is not allowed, unless you buy a permit. Those kind of information I really do rely on the hosts. When they say parking is easy and free, it relaxes me totally. Never would I think otherwise.<\/p>\n<p>2. Can&#8217;t open the door at check in: Finding the key to the house is like Escape Room &#8211; it&#8217;d fine but not fun in the rain. With 1st set of key, we opened the front red door to the house, to a floor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bonvoyage.ireneeng.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/IMG_1931.jpg\">FULL of mails<\/a>, I almost tripped. Found the 2nd set of the key to the apartment but couldn&#8217;t open the door. I&#8217;ve been communicating with the host thought out the day since I knew she works and has guests were checking out late. When I called, both calls went straight to her voice mail. We left the apartment in a down pour.\u00a0The host explained that she&#8217;s on the work phone (and the previous guest had deadlocked the door &#8230; ) so couldn&#8217;t answer my call. &#8230; Well, the AirBnB isn&#8217;t a charity either, correct? (AirBnB wasn&#8217;t much of a help. 20 minutes passed before someone answered it. AND I&#8217;ve to verify my phone. WHAT&#8217;s that for???)<\/p>\n<p>3. Dangerous chimney: a neighbor who&#8217;s an architect, asked me if I live there, and pointed out the bluestone is broken. &#8220;It&#8217;s dangerous&#8230;&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>4. Can&#8217;t close the front red door: no matter how hard we pushed.<\/p>\n<p>The room has no closet nor hangers. The city has overnight parking rule yet the host wrote in her intro and repeatedly assured me that street parking is easy.<\/p>\n<p>After no respose from AirBnB for 3 days in private message, I posted on their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/airbnb\/posts\/10156649362452458?comment_id=10156649373002458&amp;reply_comment_id=10156649496882458&amp;notif_id=1532973544635421&amp;notif_t=feed_comment&amp;ref=notif\">facebook page<\/a> and got a reply immediately, directing me to their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airbnb.ca\/resolutions\">www.airbnb.com\/resolutions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The support (in private I guess) ignnored me for 3 days.
