Have pre drink before the concert at 8pm, swell.
A gorgeous day. The Hall @ Tanglewood is pretty full with many more on the lawn. Three pieces are performed, as if showcasing one violist, Victor Romanul who has 5 grow children.
Augusta Read Thomas: Incantation for solo violin, by Victor Romanul
Sebastian Currier: Night Time, for violin and harp, by Romanul and Jessica Zhou
Brahms: String Quintet #2, by Romanul, Xin Ding, Daniel Getz, Mary Ferrillo and Michey Katz.
There isn’t a wiki page about Victor Romanul (and not every wiki article list the dob.) But I thought Seiji Hall generally showcases young musicians. Maybe Romanul is having a second life as Ax, which is great.
Another room/area for teaching? We didn’t stay because the piece they’re playing isn’t my cup of tea, and the Linde Center from Seiji Hall.

Another wonderful Tanglewood evening, with gorgeous weather. The crowds waiting at the game (to be opened) is much less, nearly none. Either it’s a Friday or pandemic is a less concern that people are traveling elsewhere.
Tonight’s program is all about the second movements, from Brahms to Chopin. The 2nd movement in Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances is very pretty too.
Karina Canellakis (1981-; an American of Greek and Russia descent who plays violin) conducts and Emanuel Ax (1949-; born in Lviv, Ukraine, ussr) plays Chopin’s piano concerto No. 2.
… U turn back to Norfolk Rd and turned left onto the unpaved Campbell Falls Road. The tiny parking lot is to our left. It’s half a mile downhill to the falls.
They call it a gallery of wonders, not sure it’s a wonder but the shop is pretty cute and has some cute merchandises. The midnight blue scarf/wrap is $88, handmade by indigenous artisan of Oaxaca.
Their radio station Berkshire radio 97.7 FM wbcr-lp. Out side, on Main Street, parks this car, full of stickers …

This Greek restaurant is outside of the town center. It’s pretty big with a few pocket of dining areas. We were the first one there for lunch. By 11:30, a few people came as well.
We’ve Greek omelet w/ salad, and Kolokithi n Melitzana: both are good, so is the service.
I asked the waiting staff if they’ve a big greek population there. She said, “no, definitely not like Astoria in New York.”
“Are you from New York?” I asked.
“No.”
Guess Astoria in Queens is well known, at least around the nation, if not the world.
A friend of mine went to Greece this past October and bought me Evergetikon‘s hand cream. It’s yellow and thick, with strong jasmine fragrance. 100ml cost
After Beethoven @ Linde, we stopped by for dinner. A lovely restaurant with a few pockets of dining areas: very good food and service. Love their floors and color scheme.
It feels tranquil during this time of the year, compares to summer months when it’s always hectic.
It’s been a decade or two that we went to Jiminy Peak Resort in the Berkshires. I don’t think they assigned us to their timeshare unit. But in any case, it’s decent suit that comfortably accommodate four people at $200 per night: two in the bedroom and two on pullout sofa in the living/outer room. The little kitchenette is sufficient.
From my window, I see their downhill Alpine ride: it’s the highlight of the summer season.

Seeing this father and son (I presume), I recall myself went up and down with my kids so many times and often, at the end of the journey, my kid had already felt asleep – precious memories.
Two rides cost the same: $14 for a single ride ($10 for kids between 38″ – 53″) and some deals, such as 6-ticket pack, or unlimited 4 or 6 hours.
The coaster had been added since our last visit there, so it was a first ride for me. I like both.
