Yellowtail with cucumber ($10) Yelp

I haven’t been there for a long time. They seem to be doing fine, in this little picky and prickly town. The decor stays the same, so is the food. The bar could be bit crowded at time. The cucumber martini ($11) lacks zest (well … cucumber is rather tasteless) and is bit too sweet for my taste – not dissimilar with Lichee martini.

The Miso Sea bass ($25) is tender and yummy (bit too much), so is the sea scallops.

A high end tea house in the heart of Flushing (Queens Crossing). I visited it when it first opened. Didn’t like it. The waiting staff is all young women without any enthusiasm, witless. For a cup of basic coffee and tea cost $10 (tea & cake is $15 – drinks are capped at $10), I do expect high quality of the staff. Fancy-looking china along isn’t enough.

Also they don’t have restrooms. You need to get a code to the bathroom outside of the cafe, which is kind of inconvenient. The code didn’t work for me. Service, at time, can be rude.

Asian Jewels Seafood

The last time I’d dinner there was a few years ago when they tried to cancel my reservation bc someone else was willing to pay more – unsuccessful, because I’d the reservation receipt. Then this month, I went there twice. A few familiar faces are still there, which is a good thing.

The chopstick rests are gone, utensil isn’t as nice as before. The over all ambiance is less appetizing, then before.

In Brooklyn. And a big fat discard rabbit teddy bear. A bubble tea house. Brooklyn Law School.

Brooklyn Height Promenade

From Montague Street off Hicks Street, at 6:45pm.

It’s been in the 90+ degrees for the past few days. Not too humid, but could use a rain or two to cool down a little.

The esplanade walkway is pretty empty. We’re facing the sun set but didn’t stay to watch it going down.

A weekday in Brooklyn

We drove down Atlantic Avenue to lunch near Hoyt, passing by Barclays Center. The new skylines/tall buildings, the double deck tourist buses,  Brooklyn has been hot for a long time. Took in Star Trek Beyond at United Artists on Court Street (comfy seats @ $20! Movie theaters are very much alive.) and strolled on the BB Park Pier 5 & Brooklyn Height Promenade. The Brevoort Station (NY 11216) post office looks old.

French Louie refers to Louie Seymour, an interesting character from the past. How did the owner choose to name after him is unknown.

My review on Yelp

IMG_3838 IMG_3810 image image

Simple and clean decor. Noisy. Flies (ok, it’s summer, but …). Slow service – an hour wait. The patio looks comfortable. I like how they serve the house wine, by letting you taste it first. Also like how they replace the utensil, from a wooden box.
