The Water Cube 水立方

After the Bird’s Nest we visited Beijing National Aquatics Center (wiki) was built during 2004–2007 and opened in 2008, hosting the summer Olympics. The ticket costs ¥30. The pretty flowers are fake.

We ran into grade school competition. The speed of the swimmers were far in between. Perhaps it’s the tradition, to save time, the next heat starts when the previous swimmers were still in the water.

I noticed that the next heat starts while the last heat swimmers are still in the pool. Perhaps to save time? Since many swimmers are lagging behind a lot. The Cube is advertising for 2022 Winter Olympics – what would they use this for?
