Dover Stone Church

Dover Plains, NY 12522

It’s a cave, with pretty easy 0.6 miles (1.2 miles round trip) hike from a parking lot, near by.

Some call it Dover Stone Church, some just call it stone church. Whichever, it’s a nice hiking trail in up state New York.

Finding it, is not straightforward and have to going in between two private houses.

1. PARKING google the school parking lot: 3128 NY-22, Dover Plains, NY 12522
2. GOING IN make a right turn out of the parking lot and cross the street. A few steps away, you’ll see the sign, and make left turn between two private homes.

Very green

Fairies ahead: a sweet home for fairies

I enjoyed my walk and would go again, perhaps in the spring, when the water is pouring down from the top of the cave – very grand.

Tanglewood, w/ Joshua Bell, 2021

Another heavenly night with an all Beethoven in August: the first half was Joshua Bell playing his violin concerto – my most favorite violin concerto and the second half is his 7th symphony.

~ July: Ax, all Beethoven program.

It was a cloud day and rained heavily at one point while we were indoor (unaware). So far, all my concerts at Tanglewood has been perfect, never encountered any weather issue.

Our weekend is pretty packed: short and sweet; staying at Jiminy Peak that brings back load of memories.

Ship to Shore @ Kingston

15 W Strand St
Kingston, NY 12401

Will return, although the taste is a little bland.

There are a few restaurants near the TR Gallo Waterfront Park, by the Rondout Creek. We readily found an empty parking space by this one, so we went in. We’ve choice of street dining (out door is only good when it’s pedestrian only?) or indoor. The high back wooden benches look very comfortable and the cool air convinced us to stay inside.

Good service, huge portion and could add a little flavors.

Saugerties Lighthouse

168 Lighthouse Dr.
Saugerties, NY 12477

After Kingston, we went to this lighthouse. The parking space is limited. We’ve to wait a little while for someone to leave.

This lighthouse on the mouth of Esopus Creek on the Hudson was built in 1869. The following two photos are from their site. The black and white is the oldest known photo, circa 1886.

The walk from the parking lot to the lighthouse is about 0.5 miles, to Statue of Liberty is 103 miles.

Krause’s Chocolates (site). The lighthouse is a B&B now but isn’t taking any new reservation at the moment. The earliest vacancy is this coming December, 2021.
