This sport bar is at UBS arena, the new home to the ice hockey team Islanders. We got there early when it is nearly empty. Long communal tables, with benches and bar stools, all without backs. The space is pleasant. The service could use little more training. The overall impression is, it’s new and needs time to get it going smoothly.
We have nachos (fine) and honey sesame oil Brussel sprouts (too sweet and oily). Pinot Project pinot noir is $18 … Why do sport arena vendors over charge? Now adds Ticket Master … the biggest scalper on the block.
Our server is from the area, she can’t stop chatting us up. From complimenting my skin to hers and her beauty route… I did give her my secret: Vaseline.
This English band since 1967, has their concert at UBS arena tonight, the new home of the Islanders. Three original members, plus four touring musicians performed. After bowing, the touring guys left quickly, leaving the three to enjoy last rounds of applauses.
The band started 34 minutes late, which I was told is normal for the rock sense. Phil Collins (1951-; of Do They Know It’s Christmas?) did all the talk and sang, while seated, due to his health/age(?). On cane, with a chair -:), pretty remarkable. His daughter Lily (1989-) is the title actor in Emily in Paris (2020-). The audience is visibly older than the Grateful Dead‘s. This one should be my seventh time to see a rock band:
