Tianjin Pancake 天津馅饼

Most time, I use this street level window on Main Street @ 40th Road, which is this left photo. The pictures below are their basement operation.

unfortunately, it’s replaced in 2020 …

The mall (Golden, here in 2008) is in the corner of Main Street and 4th Road in Flushing.  It came to my attention when it became a Chinese supermarket. After a while, the supermarket was gone and various food vendors took over the place, here in 2009.

I thought I had nothing to do with it. In fact, I only shopped in that defunded grocery store twice. Many years ago, a friend’s mom took me back there for an authentic meal of dumpling and chives pancakes. I’m hocked.

This dumpling corner makes pretty good dumpling. But the dill filling often has sand. When I brought this up to them, the women dismissed it, just like a good ol’ Chinese.

I stopped buying from them. It’s just disgusting.

.. who’s going to win, you or your stomach?

I went back there today and discover they have a new product: the pumpkin sesame ball: light and not too sweet. When I ordered two serves of dumpling and this sweet sticky ball, the staff was temporarily lost in her math. One of the diners provided the figure:

“$11.”

Guess she dines there often -:). The dumpling corner has a street front window which I buy more frequent. They make the best chive pancakes, imho.
